I visited The International Leadership of Texas Garland Elementary Campus on January 9^th, 2015. After I read my book and spoke to the students about “story,” I visited with Irene Villalobos, the 4^th grade Bilingual English Language Arts/Social Students Teacher. Irene’s passion for teaching was contagious as she talked about her students that day.

Many of the students submitted poems into the Creative Poetry Contest – https://poeticpower.com. Fifty-three students have been selected for publication. Irene forwarded some of the poems to me and I’m excited to share them on my blog. Next week I will skype with these students and look forward to talking about their poems full of emotions about animals, the seasons, an island, stones, friendships, love, music, and the future.
